The Club
We pride ourselves on being one of the friendliest, most welcoming, most fun and most social clubs in St. Andrews. (We are also the most modest). On this page is just a flavour of some of our traditions and what we get up to...

Wednesdays
Are the best nights of the week. Shinty is known for being one of the most social sports clubs in the university. Our nights are the stuff of legend... everything you've heard is probably true. Every Wednesday evening shinty will be doing something, whether we end up covered in face-paint at Sinners or hanging out at The Rule (listen out for us around 7 pm on Wednesdays - you can't miss us). Every Wednesday night is unique, so come along to stop you missing out!

Some nights this year have included: .
- Shinty Ceilidh: these are nights with pipers, Champions, attempted dancing and many fulfilled dares. These are the nights of the year, and are absolutely not to be missed!
- May Dip: we always have the biggest and best bonfire on the beach
- Themed nights: because what is better than getting dressed up with your pals?
- Shinty Christmas Dinner: enough food and drink to feed a small army!
- Six Nations: we choose our countries and represent them for a night. Whichever team puts on the best show and completes the most challenges, wins the Six Nations for their country
- House Crawls: we venture from shinty house to shinty house, playing games and having all kinds of fun
- Halloween: think costumes, think scavenger hunts, think an all round great time
- Sports Ball: show your shinty spirit by being the loudest and proudest sports team - the classiest we get all year
The Naming
...is complicated. Upon joining us you will receive an 'Agnes' name which in time will be replaced by your 'true' name through
a long and above all, mysterious process. Your shinty name is to be treasured and you will find you know everyone more by
their shinty names than their 'heathen' names.

Fundraising
Last year we chose to raise money for Fife Women's Aid. This is a local charity that provide services, such as temporary safe refuge, a 24 hour confidential emergency hotline and legal advice, for women and children in Fife who are victims of domestic abuse.
Traditionally as a team we fundraise through £AKISS. This is a great night out (don't worry, it's just a name) filled with stickers, t-shirts and plenty of donations. This year we managed to raise £353 through the many donations we received on the night of £AKISS.
We have continued to further our fundraising events through activities such as a pub quiz for the university. We have also won the green club of the year award as well as participating in cycletricity annually.

Alumni
We have a fantastic number of alumni who frequently return to visit and support us. This is due to our closeness as a
club creating lasting friendships. Alumni weekend is one of the best weekends of the year! With house parties, bonfires on the beach, alumni vs current girls match, a sixes tournament and a ceilidh to finish with, it is non-stop entertainment! It's shinty for three days; what could be better??

Tour
Every year after summer exams we go on tour with everyone in the club who wants to come. It is a great chance to go somewhere new with all your friends and play shinty somewhere different! It is some of the best few days of the year! Recent tour destinations have included Skye & the Highlands, Budapest, Cornwall and Bratislava. Planned by our wonderful vice captains, they are trips not to be missed, we are dying to know where Quinn will take us near year...
